One of the many commendations you can complete during The Quest for Guybrush Tall Tale is the ‘Gainful Unemployment’ commendation. You can start working on the commendation as soon as you arrive at Mêlée Island during this Tall Tale.

If you are just looking to complete ‘Gainful Unemployment’ and get fired from your new job, your first step is to make your way to Mêlée Island!
Gainful Unemployment Commendation
To complete the Gainful Unemployment commendation and get fired from your new job, you’ll need to speak with the Scumm Bar Chef. Once you arrive at Mêlée Island, you can visit the Kitchen in the Scumm Bar and talk to the Scumm Bar Chef. He has some choice words to share with you.
Speak with Scumm Bar Chef
As soon as you step foot on Mêlée Island, you’ll want to go to the Kitchen in the Scumm Bar. Once inside the Kitchen, approach the Scumm Bar Chef and interact with him. He will turn around and, after his tirade, fire you for doing such a poor job as an assistant. After his rant, you will unlock the ‘Gainful Unemployment’ commendation.
You can complete this commendation at any point during the Tall Tale. Just make sure you meet with the Scumm Bar Chef before leaving Mêlée Island.
