One of the many commendations you can complete during The Quest for Guybrush Tall Tale is the ‘Escape from Mêlée Island’ commendation. You can start working on the commendation when you clear the fog from Mêlée Island.

If you are just looking to complete ‘Escape from Mêlée Island’ and read all of Elaine’s journals, your first step is to work with Corina to clear the fog shrouding Mêlée Island! After you dispel the fog, you can access the five journals.
'Next to Nothing', by Elaine
You can find the ‘Next to Nothing’ journal in front of Stan’s Previously Owned Vessels. It sits on a barrel with three Xs painted behind the Grog Rowboat.
From the top of Lookout Point, make your way down the mountain’s southeast side. Take the first zipline you see on your right, and you will land near Stan’s Previously Owned Vessels.
'Ambushed', by Elaine
The ‘Ambushed’ journal is on the broken cart on the North side of the Troll Toll Bridge.
From Stan’s Previously Owned Vessels, you can head North East, lower the Troll Toll Bridge, and cross it to reach the cart.
'Shadows of the Past', by Elaine
You can find the ‘Shadows of the Past’ journal on the East rockface of Lookout Point. It is on the scaffolding platform that has several barrels on it. The journal is on top of one of the barrels.
From the broken cart, continue along the path to the North until you come to the wooden stairs and ladders on your left that lead up to the top of Lookout Point. You can climb up them to find the journal.
'Suspicious', by Elaine
You can find the ‘Suspicious’ journal on the path behind the Governor’s Mansion. It is leaning on a rock below a large tree.
From the scaffolding on the side of Lookout Point, climb back down and continue along the path to the North. Follow the way down to the left toward the Governor’s Mansion, and you will find the journal on your left.
'How Could I Forget,' by Elaine
You can find the ‘How Could I Forget’ journal deep in the forest. It is on the path that leads southeast from the grove of yellow flowers. The journal is on the ground next to the sign that points to the lowered log bridge.
