There are 25 commendations for you to unlock during Season 15, Wild Seas. While many are straightforward, several can take time to complete.

To complete all the available commendations, you must hunt down and defeat the two fearsome Ancient Megalodons roaming the Sea of Thieves! Taking down the Ancient Feared Redmaw and the Ancient Barnacled Dread and reaping their rewards will count toward most commendations.

Hunter of the Feared Redmaw

Defeat Ancient Feared Redmaws.

To complete this Commendation, you must defeat the Ancient Feared Redmaw ten times.

The Ancient Feared Redmaw is one of two Ancient Megalodons that can be active.

If the Ancient Feared Redmaw is active, you can randomly encounter it while sailing the sea. However, you will want to reach Hunter’s Call Emissary Grade V to always find it.

Similar to how reaching Reaper’s Bones Emissary Grade V reveals all other Emissaries sailing the sea, achieving Hunter’s Call Emissary Grade V reveals Ancient Megalodons roaming around.

So, if the Ancient Feared Redmaw is active, it will be on your Map Table once you reach Emissary Grade V. It will appear as a red shark fin icon with a flame below it. If you see a different shark fin, you can always try diving to a new server to see if it has an active Ancient Feared Redmaw.

Red Shark Fin

You're Going to Need a Bigger Bucket!

Attempt to extinguish the Ancient Feared Redmaw with a water bucket.

To complete this Commendation, you must throw water on the Ancient Feared Redmaw from your bucket. You can grab a bucket of water from the sea, water in your ship, or the bilge. Once you have found the giant shark and have water ready to throw, douse it on the Ancient Feared Redmaw when it is near your ship.

You can wait for it to charge your ship for a bite or sail next to it.

Ancient Feared Redmaw

Mega Fire Stopper

Extinguish a fire during an encounter with an Ancient Feared Redmaw.

To complete this Commendation, you must extinguish a fire on your ship started by the Ancient Feared Redmaw.

When the Ancient Feared Redmaw bites your vessel, it will light it ablaze. When the giant shark bites your ship, lighting it on fire, throw a bucket of water on some of the fire to put it out.

Friendly Fire

Cause an Ancient Feared Redmaw to overheat and explode using fire.

To complete this Commendation, you must cause the Ancient Feared Redmaw to overheat and explode using fire. The Ancient Feared Redmaw already continually heats up until it overheats and explodes. However, you can speed up the process by damaging it with fire. You can use the Ashen Winds Skull, Ashen Roar, Firebombs, or Gunpowder Barrels.

One easier method is to shoot the Feared Redmaw with Firebombs when it charges you for a bite. The larger the flames on its back, the closer it is to exploding.

So, if the Ancient Barnacled Dread is active, it will be on your Map Table once you reach Emissary Grade V. It will appear as a purple shark fin icon with a lightning bolt below it. Once you’ve tracked down the Barnacled Dread, you’ll want to destroy some of its coral and rock shields to reveal a weak spot. Once you can see a weak spot, a patch of blue, glowing scars, shoot it with the Trident of Dark Tides to unlock the Commendation.

You can purchase Hunting Spears directly from any Hunter’s Call representative or find them randomly on island beaches and inside shipwrecks. You can also receive them by defeating Megalodons, Krakens, and emergent Skeleton Ships.

Once you have a Hunting Spear, throw it at any Kraken tentacle, Megalodon, or Ancient Megalodon to progress the Commendation.

Hunting Spear Kraken

Skewered Death of the Seas

Hit sharks using hunting spears.

To complete this Commendation, you must hit sharks 15 times with Hunting Spears.

A single Hunting Spear will kill a shark, so you’ll need to hit 15 different sharks to complete the Commendation. You can find sharks by swimming in any body of water. However, you increase your chances of finding one by swimming near shipwrecks and Megalodons.

Once you are on the island with a Wild Boar, you can begin to hunt it down. You can track it by looking for prints it leaves behind or pieces of food it drops.

Wild Boars are shy and will flee if you get too close. When you spot the Wild Boar, slowly approach it with your Hunting Spear equipped and throw it when you are in range.

You can hit 15 different Wild Boars over several sailing sessions.

Throw Hunting Spear

Impaled Vessels of the Waves

Pierce enemy ships with hunting spears.
